Colombia's transactional market mobilized four times more capital until March in year-on-year terms

The Colombian transactional market has registered in the first quarter of 2024 a total of 60 mergers and acquisitions, between announced and closed, for an aggregate amount of 2,066 million dollars 1,939 million euros), which represents a decrease of 3% in the number of transactions and a 309% increase in their amount, compared to the same period in 2023

According to the quarterly report from TTR Data, in sectoral terms, the Specific Software Industry is the most active of the year, with a total of 12 transactions, followed by the Food sector, with 7 operations.

Regarding the cross-border market, so far this year Colombian companies have mainly opted to invest in Spain, with 2 transactions.

On the other hand, the United States is the country that has committed the most to making acquisitions in Colombia, with 14 transactions, and the United Kingdom is the country that has registered the greatest capital mobilized in the country, with 715 million dollars (671 million euros). 

Meanwhile, in the first quarter a total of 2 Private Equity transactions were recorded, with an aggregate non-confidential amount of 95 million dollars (89.2 million euros). This represents a 33% decrease in the number of transactions, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, there have been a total of 17 Venture Capital transactions, of which 16 have an aggregate non-confidential amount of 193 million dollars (181 million euros). This represents a 26% decrease in the number of operations and a 23% increase in their amount, in year-on-year terms.
