Flow of cash to Brazil for M&A deals slows amid market woes
Some 1,130 M&A transactions were recorded in Brazil in January-June this year for a total reported value of 158bn reais (US$29.2bn), according to the latest data compiled by Transactional Track Record (TTR).
The number of deals, including private equity, venture capital and asset acquisitions, was up 2% year-on-year, but the reported value tumbled 44.3%, confirming cooler investor interest seen in recent months, particularly among international investors.
In private equity, TTR reported that 44 Brazilian transactions were concluded in the first half of the year, down 38% year-on-year, for a disclosed value of 10.8bn reais.
The scenario was similar in Mexico and Chile, among other countries in the region, which have also seen deal volumes and values decline in recent months.
