Mergers and acquisitions of companies in Mexico grow in 2017
Madrid, Jun. 7(Notimex) .- The business merger and acquisition market in Mexico until May 2017 reports a total of 118 transactions, of which 45 of them total an amount of 9 thousand 297 million dollars.
The monthly report by the specialized Transactional Track Record (TTR) said that the figure represents an increase of 0.85 percent in operations, but a decrease of 13.55 percent in the amount of the same ones of the same period last year.
About operations in May, it said that there were 29 transactions (17.14 percent less than in the same month of 2016), of which 12 recorded an amount of 639 million dollars, which is a decrease of 65.80 percent.
Of the 118 operations so far this year, 26 correspond to small transactions (with amounts less than millions of dollars), 13 medium-sized ones (between 100 and 500 million dollars) and six large amounts (of more than 500 million dollars).
By sectors, the financier accounts for 19 transactions; Insurance 18; the food industry 8 and tourism, hospitality and catering also 8.
By countries of origin of those who make the acquisitions in Mexico, stand out the United States with 16 operations valued at 1 thousand 717 million dollars; Spain with 10 for an amount of 410 million dollars; and Canada with three and a balance of 459 million dollars.
Meanwhile, Mexican companies have made seven acquisitions of US firms of 2 thousand 410 million dollars; in Colombia five operations for 937 million dollars and in Spain four acquisitions for 20.2 million dollars.
Private Equity operations so far this year have resulted in a total of 15 transactions, of which two add up to a non-confidential amount of 190 million dollars, which is a 25 percent increase in operations and a decrease of 47 percent in amount compared to the same period of 2016.
