November shows very strong dealmaking in Mexico

The value of M&A, private equity and venture capital deals last month in Mexico reached US$2bn in November, increasing 651% year-on-year, while the number of deals rose 67% to 30 transactions.

The biggest deals last month included the acquisition of the concrete pipes manufacturer unit of Cemex in the US, by US-based Quikrete for US$500bn, and the purchase of auto parts manufacturer Grupo Infun by Mexican Grupo Industrial Saltillo for US$297mn.

The accumulated deal value in January-November reached US$26.8bn, 2% below the same period in 2015, according to research firm TTRecord.

There were a total of 277 deals in the first 11 months in Mexico of which 146 disclosed their transaction value.

Most of the cross-border transactions in January-November by Mexican companies were concentrated in the US, Spain and Argentina.
