Technology mergers and acquisitions in Portugal moved 1,6 billion this year
The purchase of Portuguese technological companies has been accelerating in terms of the value handled, despite the fact that, in 2020, the number of transactions is below what occurred in the same period last year.
The business of acquiring technology companies in Portugal this year is already 40, points out a report by the international directory Transactional Track Record (TTR). The operations in question amounted to 1,6 billion euros.
The aforementioned figures represent a 30% decrease in the numbers of transactions when compared to the same period last year, but the value of the same grew 236%.
The largest investors in this type of operations in the national territory are from the United States, which already bought seven Portuguese technology companies in 2020. In 2019, the Americans moved 2,4 billion euros in operations of this type in Portugal. On the other hand, Brazil is the main target of these operations by Portuguese investors, who have already acquired four companies related to the technology sector in Brazil this year.
Venture capital investments also play an important role in these operations, as they are involved in 65% of transactions in the Portuguese technological sector this year. This represents 26 transactions, a decrease of 26% compared to the same period last year, but which translates into an increase of 101%, or 223 million euros, in its value.
