Transactions in Argentina decrease by 20% year to date

The total aggregate value of transactions has fallen almost 67%

According to Transactional Track Record (TTR) platform, the number of transactions in Argentina year to date decreased 20% compared to 2019. The total number of trades was 99, far from the 168 of last year. If we narrow the analysis on the third quarter of the year, the decrease was 16%. In 2019 there were 50 transactions, and in 2020 the numbers went down to 42. (See table below).

Notwithstanding this slight decrease, the decrease in the total aggregate value of the transactions seems more worrying. The value of the transactions is 66.73% lower than the past year. $1616 million is the total amount from January till the end of September. The third quarter nonetheless boosted a significant increase compared with the previous two quarters. The total value of the transactions arose up to $758 million, a 183% rise of the prior quarter. More important is the fact that this was the first quarter with a surge in the year-round.
The United States remains as the country of origin of most of the inversions in Argentina, and Brazil is the prefered target of Argentinian investors.

The most significant deal of the third quarter was the acquisition of Torre Oficinas Bouchard 710 by Dow Chemical to IRSA Propiedades Comerciales for $82.7 million.
