In the first six months of 2022 startups created in Colombia attracted more venture capital than ever before: US$1,030 million dollarsaccording to newly released figures from Transactional Track Record (TTR).

In the first half of 2022, a total of 57 operations of venture capital, this means an increase of 63% in the number of operations and an increase of 29% in the amount of these, compared to the same period of the previous year. And it should be noted that the amount of money is greater, since in some operations the amount was confidential.

The positive venture capital traction began in the first quarter of 2022. “On an important note, for the first time in a long time, Colombia is occupying the second place in greater capital raising after Brazil, normally we would see Brazil, Mexico and then Colombia. We’re seeing a pretty interesting dynamic there,” he told Bloomberg Line, Carlos Ramos de la Vega, director of Venture Capital of the Association for Private Capital Investment in Latin America (LAVCA).
