The Latin American transactional market was not as dynamic in August as in previous months, with a decrease in the number of deals, in most countries. However, Mexico registered a 50% increase in its activity, with 27 deals registered compared with twelve in July. In addition, Mexico also contributed to increase the overall investment volume of Latin America. Highlights include the acquisition by Mexico-based América Móvil of a 72% stake in The Netherlands-based KPN, for USD 9.60bn. Nonetheless, Brazil also continued the trend set in previous months for being the most active, with 88 deals registered, followed by Mexico and Argentina with 12. Among the highlighted players was Mexico-based Coca-Cola Femsa, which closed the acquisition of Brazilian bottler Companhia Fluminense de Refrigerantes, for USD 448m. The company also reached an agreement to acquire Brazil-based Spaipa, for USD 1.86bn.
